Draymond Green Names 1 NBA Team That Has the ‘Look of a Champion’
Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green knows a thing or two about winning championships in the NBA. For the controversial forward, though, the Dallas Mavericks have the look of a champion in this year’s playoffs.

Last season, the Mavs traded for All-Star Kyrie Irving after his disappointing stint with the Brooklyn Nets. Unfortunately, he and Luka Doncic didn’t have enough time to mesh together on the court to lead Dallas to a playoff spot. This led the Mavericks to end their season early last year.

This season, though, is a way different story than before. Thanks to a full offseason of preparation, the duo of Irving and Doncic found a way to lead Dallas to a spot in the playoffs. Add the timely addition of PJ Washington and Daniel Gafford before the trade deadline, and Dallas may have assembled a roster that can go all the way in the playoffs.

This was proven in the the first round when the Mavs eliminated a Los Angeles Clippers team led by the All-Star duo of Paul George and James Harden. Within those six games, Doncic and company shot the ball better, made more offensive rebounds, and committed fewer turnovers. Also, Doncic and Irving proved that their backcourt combination is one opposing squads should heavily prepare for.

Four-Time NBA Champion Draymond Green Says Dallas Mavericks Has the Look of a Champion

With Dallas’ series against Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder in full swing, several takes were give thrown about the Mavericks’ recent playoff performance. In a video shared by Mavs Film Room on X, Green noted that the Luka Doncic-led team has the look of an NBA champion:

Green is going for the Mavs instead of other squads, like the defending champions Denver Nuggets, the Anthony Edwards-led Minnesota Timberwolves, or the team with the best NBA record, the Boston Celtics. It seemed that the Warriors’ star is hinging his opinion in the ceiling Doncic and Irving has for Dallas.

It remains to be seen whether the Mavericks can justify Green’s take. But first, they have to eliminate OKC, defeat either the Nuggets or Timberwolves, and get past the Finals to become champions. In any case, it’s going to be an interesting playoff run for Dallas this year.
